The Wurlitzer Pipe Organ: An Illustrated History (ISBN: 0-9763338-0-5)
explores the fascinating creation and development of the instrument, considered essential equipment to the American movie palace from 1910 through 1930. As the "voice" of the silent screen, Wurlitzer pipe organs evolved into cultural icons and attained a widespread following that continues to this day. The book, long thought lost after the original author David L. Junchen's death in 1992, has been reconstructed and edited by Jeff Weiler.  Published by the American Theatre Organ Society in commemoration of its fiftieth anniversary, the book contains over 800 pages, 1000 images, extensive technical information, and an annotated opus list containing entries of 2,234 Wurlitzer pipe organs built from 1910 to 1943. In addition to theatre organs, Wurlitzer pipe organs manufactured for residences, churches, radio and motion picture studios, and other commercial establishments are thoughtfully examined.
